What I Treat

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

The Visiting Physio can offer assessments and treatments for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

MSK physiotherapy is a specialist area that focuses on the assessment, treatment, and management of conditions affecting the muscles, bones, joints, nerves, ligaments, and tendons of the body. Musculoskeletal conditions that may benefit from treatment include:

  • Back/ neck pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Shoulder pain/instability
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Muscle strains/tears
  • Ankle instability
  • Hypermobility
  • Whiplash
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain

Physiotherapy for seniors

Physiotherapy for senior clients in their own home environment has many advantages. It allows the physiotherapist to see how the client mobilises within their home and make an accurate assessment and treatment plan to allow them to move more freely, safely and independently around their home.

Small changes to a home environment, such as decluttering, removing risk hazards, using simple aids to assist walking, and implementing strategies for getting out of a chair and bed, can make a significant difference to the client’s safety and mobility.

  • Fall prevention
  • Balance and coordination
  • Mobility difficulties at home
  • Muscle weakness
  • Building confidence
  • Mobility difficulties outdoors

Pre and post-operative physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is as important pre-surgery (prehab) as well as post-surgery and can significantly improve outcomes for many surgeries, including:

  • Joint replacement surgery
  • Spinal surgery
  • Rotator cuff repair
  • ACL reconstruction
  • Arthroscopic surgery
  • Abdominal surgery

Patients who prehab often recover faster and have better outcomes.
